The Globe

Nestled in the heart of Highcliffe at 266 Lymington Rd, The Globe is one of those local gems that effortlessly blends the charm of a traditional British pub with the comfort of an all-day dining spot. Whether you're popping in for a hearty breakfast, a mid-day pint, or a leisurely dinner, The Globe knows how to make everyone feel welcome-with great food, generous portions, and a relaxed, homey vibe.

What instantly stands out is the warmth of the setting. There’s a cozy fireplace perfect for chillier days, and seating is designed to be spacious yet intimate. Accessibility is well-considered too, with a wheelchair-accessible car park and seating available. The team at The Globe puts genuine effort into creating an atmosphere that feels inclusive, relaxed, and just the right amount of lively.

The breakfast offering is a big hit with locals. The English Breakfast is as classic as it gets-generous servings of sausage, bacon, eggs, hash browns, beans, and toast, with an optional upgrade of black pudding for those who like to go all in. It pairs beautifully with a strong cappuccino or a comforting mug of hot chocolate, depending on your mood. For solo diners, there’s a quiet corner or two that invites you to sit with a book or scroll through your phone while sipping on some of the best coffee in the area.

Come lunchtime, the menu switches gears and leans into hearty British comfort food. The British Fish N Chips is consistently praised-golden batter, flaky fish, chunky chips, and mushy peas done just right. Meanwhile, the Beef & Ale Pie is a top choice if you’re after something warming and deeply satisfying, especially when smothered in rich gravy and served with buttery mash. Craving something a little indulgent? The Sirloin Steak with Chips and Diane Sauce is worth every bite-tender, juicy, and packed with flavor.

If you're visiting during the festive season, you’re in for a treat. The Festive Turkey Dinner and Festive Steak options are standouts-accompanied by all the traditional trimmings like roasted potatoes, stuffing, and lashings of gravy. It's the kind of meal that brings nostalgia to the table and captures the joy of the holidays in one plate.

The drinks menu is equally thoughtful. The Globe takes pride in its great beer selection, from local ales to popular lagers, making it a solid spot for a laid-back drink with friends. There’s also a range of cocktails, wines, and an impressive tea selection if you're leaning non-alcoholic. Their happy-hour drinks are popular with after-work crowds and casual weekend visitors alike.

Dessert lovers aren’t left out either. The Chocolate Brownie is a must-served warm, gooey, and rich. Or for something more playful, the Rocky Road Sundae hits that perfect balance between crunchy and creamy. If you're more into lighter bites, the Cheese Topped Potato Skins or a Chicken Salad can easily satisfy without weighing you down.

Though it doesn’t offer delivery or takeaway services, The Globe’s dine-in experience is clearly its forte. It’s the kind of place where the food is just one part of the equation-the setting, service, and atmosphere elevate everything.

Expect friendly staff who greet you like a neighbor, food that feels homemade yet refined, and an ambiance that works equally well for group gatherings or solo escapes. Whether you’re here for a roast dinner on a Sunday, a spontaneous drink on a Friday night, or just need a quick hot dog or salad to refuel, The Globe manages to strike that sweet spot between familiarity and surprise.

There’s an unspoken comfort in knowing a place like this exists-where your next good meal or pint is always waiting.

Had a lovely meal here. Maddi served us and she was wonderful. Couldn't do enough for us. She was like a little whirlwind around the place waiting on customers. Plenty to choose from on the menu and a good selection of drinks. Would definitely recommend.

We have eaten at the Globe twice in a recent stay in the area. The menu is pub grub, well cooked and presented. Staff were friendly and efficient. Good value for money.

We went for a quick drink, as we had business to deal with further up the road. Very pleasantly received, wonderful to see there is a clear bar area, where you can also have a meal, while watching sport on the television. Very relaxed and admirable atmosphere. It would be a pleasure to return and hopefully sample the food as it appears the prices to be very reasonable, not only for the drinks but especially the prices of the food. Hope to visit again soon.

Nice pub/restaurant. Most of the staff are great. Unfortunately, they have taken my favourite meals, filo pastry pie and chicken and pulled ham off the menu
